Tom Simpson – was appointed to the District Board in October 2005.  He is currently a Field Station Ecologist with the McHenry County Conservation District.  Tom is the land manager for MCCD sites in the northeastern corner of the county, and he organizes and runs an intern program for college-age individuals.  Tom also issues permits to outside researchers who wish to work on MCCD lands and he has a modest research program focusing on improving land management methods.  Prior to his employment with MCCD, Tom was a Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Northeastern Illinois University, and before that the Ecologist and Naturalist with the Education Program at the Morton Arboretum.
